SALALAH: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with several government entities — the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, Dhofar Municipality, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Environment Authority, Mwasalat, and Oman Airports — has launched the Sustainable Dhofar campaign.
The initiative aims to promote a culture of sustainability and innovation while actively engaging the community to propose solutions for environmental and urban challenges in Dhofar Governorate.
The campaign seeks to support sustainable development and enhance the overall quality of life by empowering youth and national talent to present innovative ideas. It also aims to strengthen partnerships among government entities, the private sector, academic institutions, and entrepreneurs.
Abdullah bin Ali al Busaidi, Director-General of the Oman Logistics Center, said the campaign complements the ministry's efforts to advance green mobility practices across Oman. He noted that the campaign was intentionally timed to coincide with the second edition of the Gulf Green Mobility Forum in Salalah, reinforcing Oman's commitment to adopting sustainable transport solutions.
Al Busaidi added that the initiative aims to deeply root a culture of sustainability and encourage various segments of society to contribute ideas that help build a sustainable future for the region.
He explained that citizens, visitors, investors, and entrepreneurs can submit their ideas and proposals via the "Amed" platform, which was launched alongside the campaign to receive initiatives focused on digital and logistical sustainability.
Sustainable Dhofar works to support local ideas and turn them into scalable, investment-ready solutions and projects. Additionally, it aims to build a comprehensive database of innovators and entrepreneurs, contributing to future initiatives aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and the sustainable development goals of Dhofar Governorate.
Expected outcomes of the campaign include forging long-term partnerships, raising community awareness on sustainability issues, and establishing a resource bank of talent to drive future projects forward. — ONA
